Holding Hands with Denial…

Valiantly he rises

Heading for the day

Conviction keeps him moving

Not the work…Not the pay

The flower of his heart

Is wilting..losing life

Her battle nears its ending

Death is reaching for his wife

He faces each day hopeful

Perhaps this won’t be real

His mind can’t buy what’s changing

Fearing Grief…Fearing to Feel…

Friends all watch him sadly

They don’t seem to understand

If he were to stop moving

He’d be lost in pains quicksand…

He holds denial tightly

It’s his hope that keeps him whole…

Much more than simply loving her

She’s the heartbeat of his soul…
