The Ever Turning Wheel…

Change…

Ah, the Yin / Yang of it

And fickle we..loving, hating

Fighting for or against

It’s inevitability

What face will it wear ?

For the better or for worse ?

Perspective surely dictates

Change… As blessing or as curse….

A Whole Heart…

Tho grief has etched it’s presence

Over years in the lines of my face

And memories of loves I’ve held

Have left their tear stained trace

I wouldn’t choose to change the script

Nor play a different part

For the pain of grief reminds me

I’ve known love with the whole of my heart…

Tender Parts…

In life may your heart…somehow

retain it’s kind tender parts

Someway…finding sweetness

still existing with innocence..

As the young free of care

glow with wonder each day

May you stay gifted always

with the spirit of play…

Nobody’s Baby

She’s worn so weary and always blue

Been nobody’s baby her whole life through

She’s got no family or heart-strung ties

There’s only her hand wiping tired eyes

She works odd jobs off and on week long

Uneducated they treat her wrong

She stays real quiet cause the work she needs

There’s bills to pay and herself to feed

On Friday nights though the only day

Nobody’s baby goes out to play

She zips the dress from the Goodwill store

And slips on heels laying by the door

With hair fixed up and her make-up on

A painted smile and then she’s gone

Cause Friday nights at the corner bar

Nobody’s baby is quite the star

If He Had No Name?

Would he still be missed

If he had no name

Nor collar worn

Round his thick dark mane…?

Would the world have thought

About his pride

The way he lived

Or the way he died…?

Must names be known

For us to care

About this world

In which we share…?

And what of those

Who bear no name

If our world gives value

Only to fame…?

Flickers of Light…

I held a Star, Once

A soft glow at the start

And as this shining wonder grew

Beams were wrapped around my heart..

I held a Star, Once

Watched it spread in strength and light

Then in a blink it lifted

As a comet burning bright..

I held a Star, Once

I knew pleasure, I knew pain

And though it’s gone from my embrace

In my heart it’s light remains….
